PUNJAB POLICE UNDER FIRE: CCTV VIDEO SPARKS DRUG PLANTING CONTROVERSY IN KHANNA

A shocking CCTV video from Khanna, Punjab, has triggered a major controversy after a police officer was allegedly caught placing a packet beneath a mattress at Shiv Sena leader Mahant Kashmir Giri’s residence.

The controversy erupted after police claimed to have recovered around 30 grams of heroin from the same spot and arrested Giri in a drug trafficking case. Following the emergence of the footage, Assistant Sub-Inspector Sukhdev Singh was suspended, while Giri was discharged from the case.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by an SP-rank officer, has been formed to investigate the incident and examine the role of the police personnel involved.

Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal took a dig at the AAP-led Punjab government, sarcastically questioning its promise of doorstep services.

The incident has sparked fresh questions over police accountability, the credibility of drug recovery procedures and law enforcement in Punjab.

The investigation will now determine the authenticity of the footage and establish accountability.
