Make Crispy Baked Tofu For A Healthy Vegan Dinner

Even the pickiest diners will be satisfied by the outcomes of this straightforward dish. As was already said, pressing the block before to baking is crucial for making crispy baked tofu.

This helps the tofu better absorb the flavour of the masala marinade by removing excess moisture. A tofu press is a good investment if you frequently eat vegan food. If you prefer, place the block on a platter, cover it with paper towels, then place something substantial on top. About 15 minutes are needed to press.

Some folks insist on skillet frying their tofu, but cast iron skillets never produce the desired results. This is a tofu disaster because it adheres and the crispy pieces stick to the pan. Additionally, it uses more oil, even though tofu may be made crispy with less oil. Tofu gets crunchy edges and a soft, pillowy interior when it’s baked. It is just the best. Here’s how to make oven-baked tofu that’s very crispy. As a side dish to a larger meal, this recipe makes 4 servings of tofu.

Ingredients-

•1 block of tofu

•1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

•1 tbsp soy sauce or tamari

•1 tbsp cornstarch

Method-

1.Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large, rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent the tofu from sticking.

2.Getting ready for the tofu: After draining the tofu, use your hands to gently squeeze out part of the water. Cut the tofu in thirds lengthwise to get three equal slabs. The slabs are piled on top of one another, then sliced in three equal columns and five equal rows by cutting them lengthwise and across, respectively.

3.Tofu should be layered evenly on a cutting board that has been lined with paper towels or a lint-free tea towel. Fold the towel over the tofu cubes to help them drain, and then place something heavy on top. Give the tofu at least ten minutes to rest.

4.Add the olive oil and tamari to the medium mixing bowl with the squeezed tofu. Combine by tossing. Tofu should be coated completely in starch after being sprinkled with it, with no leftover powdery patches.

5.On the baking sheet, you have prepared, tip the tofu bowl over and spread it out evenly. Tofu should be baked for 25 to 30 minutes, turning it over halfway through, until the edges are thoroughly brown. Use as you please.
