Heavy Rainfall in Uttar Pradesh,Schools In These Districts To Remain Closed

In view of the heavy rains in the districts of Uttar Pradesh, today, 10th October has been declared a holiday for all the schools. District administrations including Lucknow, Noida, Ghaziabad, Agra, Meerut, Aligarh, Mathura, Kanpur, Etah, Mainpuri, Unnao, Rae Bareli and Firozabad have ordered closure of schools.

All classes in these schools of educational boards in these districts, whether state government, private or semi-government aided, have been ordered to remain closed today.

Heavy rains lashed many parts of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, October 9 and more rains are likely today.

“Due to excessive rainfall in the district and keeping in view the possibility of excessive rainfall, the District Magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar has declared a holiday on October 10 (Monday) in government, semi-government aided and unaided schools of all divisions. Classes of the district Operated from 1 to 12,” said district school inspector Dharamvir Singh.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued an orange alert in the wake of heavy to very heavy rain, thunder and lightning in areas of western Uttar Pradesh and asked officials to remain alert for Monday.

In Aligarh, however, schools will remain closed till October 12, while in Kasganj district, schools have been ordered to remain closed on October 10 and October 11.
