Digital Platform Implemented in 194 Schools under Cantonment Boards

The Defense Ministry has announced that 194 schools in 15 states have been equipped with a digital platform managed by 62 Cantonment Boards.

The Defense Ministry said this digital platform – School Management System (SMS) – is meant to enable “ease of living” for residents of cantonment areas.

“A digital platform – School Management System (SMS) has been implemented in 194 schools under the management of 62 Cantonment Boards in 15 states. The SMS in-house has been developed by the Directorate General of Defense Estates (DGDE), Ministry of Defense, from which 61,943 The students and 1,965 teachers are getting benefitted and serving the residents of the cantonment and surrounding areas.”

The system currently works in English medium and is being further developed to provide services in local languages ​​as well. In a statement, the ministry said that SMS enables parents to apply online for school admissions, monitor their children’s progress, make complaints, pay fees in digital mode, etc. This initiative is user friendly and the process of issuance of Transfer Certificate has also been made easy for the parents.
