In a heartbreaking incident, popular travel influencer Aanvi Kamdar tragically passed away after falling into a gorge at the Kumbhe waterfalls in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. The unfortunate event occurred on July 17 while she was filming a video at the scenic location.

The Incident

Aanvi Kamdar, a 26-year-old resident of Mumbai, had a passion for exploring new places and sharing her adventures on social media. She had visited the Kumbhe waterfalls with friends to relish the beauty of the monsoon season. While capturing photos and videos, Kamdar slipped and fell into a 350-foot-deep gorge.

Rescue Efforts

Upon receiving news of the accident, the Sahyadri Wildlife Conservation Society and Mangaon police promptly initiated a rescue operation. Superintendent of Police Raigad, Somnath Gharge, confirmed that Aanvi was alive when the rescue team reached her. Despite their best efforts and immediate medical attention, she sadly passed away during treatment.

Superintendent Gharge recounted the challenges faced during the rescue: “While descending to rescue her, we encountered falling rocks. Initially, it seemed she wasn’t alive, but upon closer inspection, we found her breathing. She was quickly transported to the hospital, but unfortunately, she did not survive.”

A Reminder of Nature’s Perils

This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the dangers present in nature. Just weeks prior, on June 30, a family of five drowned near Bhushi Dam in Pune’s Lonavala, underscoring the need for caution around water bodies, especially during the rainy season.

Pune District Collector Suhas Diwas has issued advisories urging the public to exercise caution. “We appeal to the public to be responsible and avoid going near waterfalls or streams during the rainy weather. Proper planning and awareness of weather conditions are crucial to prevent such incidents.”

Aanvi Kamdar’s vibrant spirit and love for travel will be remembered by her followers and the travel community. Her untimely death is a significant loss, reminding us all to cherish each moment and prioritize safety in our adventures.
