Ghaziabad Banker Shot Dead in Noida: Wife, Brother-in-Law Accused of Murder

In a shocking case of contract killing, Manjeet Mishra, a banker from Ghaziabad, was shot dead in broad daylight in Noida on February 21. Investigations reveal that the murder was allegedly orchestrated by his wife, Megha Rathore, and her brother, Sachin Rathore, who reportedly hired assassins to execute the crime.

Manjeet, who married Megha on January 28, 2024, had been facing threats from his in-laws, according to his family. Allegedly, Megha had filed dowry harassment and domestic violence cases against him and was demanding ₹3 crore to settle the matter.

The Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested Sachin Rathore and the individual who arranged the contract killing. However, Megha Rathore remains at large, raising concerns over the progress of the investigation. Manjeet’s family, fearing for their safety, is pleading for justice and urging authorities to take swift action.

Men’s rights activist Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj condemned the police inaction, stating, “It’s an extremely tragic murder of a young man whose only mistake was to fight a divorce case legally. It also highlights the fact that police don’t take complaints by husbands seriously. Manjeet had already filed a complaint with Ghaziabad police about the death threats he had received. Police did not act on it. Had they taken action, maybe this murder could have been prevented. Even now, the wife has not been arrested by Noida Police. They have not even confiscated her phone, which could have crucial evidence. This is gross negligence. I request Noida Police to hear the concerns of the deceased family.”

Social media has erupted with calls for Megha’s immediate arrest, with netizens tagging @Uppolice, @noidapolice, and @CMOfficeUP to intervene. Journalist and activist Deepika Bhardwaj has also highlighted the case, emphasizing the threats faced by Manjeet’s family and their willingness to speak to the media.

As the police continue their probe, the victim’s family hopes for justice amid growing public outrage.
