upGrad launches new upskilling programme; aims to enable 75,000 jobs

UpGrad, an edtech unicorn run by Ronnie Screwvala, is intensifying its efforts to build out the broadest range of upskilling programmes. The concept would enable working professionals and job seekers to enrol in their own upGrad-branded courses. With the new programme, upGrad hopes to create 75,000 employment in a year.

Mayank Kumar, co-founder and MD of upGrad, said, “Our own branded certification courses for job enablement provide us the flexibility to focus on what makes the first-time employee or working professionals move up in their employment or swap careers in order, to upgrade themselves.

According to Kumar, “it clearly ties in with our aim to help India to be positioned as the global skill talent capital of the globe.”

According to upGrad, 80% of those who enter the workforce find it difficult to land a job. The upGrad course portfolio is dedicated to equipping individuals with the necessary skill sets to find employment. The company claims that corporate hiring costs are rising and that this benefits both the employer and the employee by saving time and money.

Today, upGrad serves the training requirements of over 3,700 businesses globally. With more than 3 million learners over the past seven years, it is able to comprehend the demands of the employee.

According to Subramanyam Reddy, founder and CEO of KnowledgeHut upGrad, a company acquired by upGrad that offers professionals short-duration upskilling and reskilling courses, “We believe we have the right content, product offering, technology, and trainers to build a strong sense of aspiration for everyone to be job ready.”

We will be learning entirely online for a 6 to 8 month part-time course, according to Reddy.
