IPL 2026 Qualifier 2: Gill masterclass guides Titans past Royals into final

Gujarat Titans Storm Into IPL 2026 Final After Dominant Win Over Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2

Shubman Gill’s magnificent century and Sai Sudharsan’s explosive partnership powered Gujarat Titans to a commanding seven-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals, booking their place in the IPL 2026 final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The IPL 2026 playoffs delivered another blockbuster encounter as Gujarat Titans produced a sensational batting display to defeat Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in Qualifier 2. Chasing a massive target of 215 runs at the New International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh, Gujarat Titans completed one of the finest run chases in IPL playoff history with eight balls remaining.

The victory was powered by an unforgettable innings from captain Shubman Gill, who led from the front with a breathtaking century under pressure. His aggressive yet composed knock completely shifted the momentum in Gujarat’s favour and ensured the franchise reached its third IPL final in five seasons. Alongside him, Sai Sudharsan played an equally impactful innings that dismantled Rajasthan’s bowling attack during the powerplay and middle overs.
Rajasthan Royals entered the high-pressure clash with confidence after their dominant Eliminator victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad. Much of the spotlight before the match was on teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who had been in extraordinary form throughout the tournament. The young batter once again impressed fans and cricket experts with a fearless innings, narrowly missing out on a century while helping Rajasthan Royals post a challenging total of 214 runs.

Despite early setbacks, Rajasthan rebuilt their innings through Sooryavanshi’s fearless stroke play and valuable support from Ravindra Jadeja in the middle order. Their aggressive batting approach kept Gujarat’s bowlers under pressure for most of the innings. Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder managed to provide breakthroughs at crucial moments, but Rajasthan Royals still looked in control after crossing the 200-run mark.

However, Gujarat Titans had entirely different plans during the chase. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan walked out with complete intent and immediately attacked the Rajasthan bowling lineup. The pair stitched together a remarkable opening partnership that almost sealed the contest within the first half of the innings. Boundaries flowed consistently from both ends as Rajasthan struggled to control the scoring rate.

Gill’s innings was a masterclass in pressure batting. He mixed elegant timing with fearless attacking cricket and punished every loose delivery. His century came at a crucial stage of the tournament and highlighted why he remains one of the most dependable leaders and batters in the league. Sai Sudharsan complemented him perfectly with an aggressive half-century that kept the required run rate comfortably under control.

The Rajasthan Royals bowling attack, which had looked dangerous throughout the season, failed to create breakthroughs when needed most. Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger managed to pick wickets, but Gujarat’s batting depth and momentum proved too strong. Rahul Tewatia added the finishing touches with a quick cameo that officially confirmed Gujarat Titans’ place in the IPL 2026 final.

This victory also underlined Gujarat Titans’ remarkable consistency in the IPL since joining the tournament. Reaching another final within five seasons reflects the franchise’s balanced squad, strong leadership, and ability to deliver under pressure. The team now heads into the summit clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru with confidence and momentum firmly on their side.

For Rajasthan Royals, the defeat marks a heartbreaking end to an otherwise impressive campaign. The emergence of young talents like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and several standout performances throughout the season provided positives for the franchise despite missing out on the final. Their aggressive approach and fearless cricket made them one of the most entertaining teams of IPL 2026.

Cricket fans across the country are now eagerly waiting for the grand IPL 2026 final, where Gujarat Titans will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in what promises to be another thrilling contest. With Shubman Gill in exceptional form and the Titans batting lineup firing at the right moment, the final is expected to deliver another memorable night of T20 cricket.
