The Impact of Social Media on Modern Marketing

Today we live in a world where a single post with a trendy hashtag can make a business reach to a global stage from ground zero .What began as just a way to connect to friends and family has not only become an essential tool to showcase one’s talent but also evolved into a platform through which businessescommunicate, influence and market their consumers.

A little while ago, marketing was all about glossy magazines, catchy television commercials and captivating radio jingles. It was the time where the consumers listened, and markets spoke. Now? That’s not the case anymore . The game has changed , the consumers have the power to highlight what they want, how the want it to be . They comment, review , hype , influence or simply cancel the product the sellers are selling and the top companies are not just simply watching it , they are joining in , to succeed !

“Humans trust humans more  than a logo” This common saying simply proves the point of how social media marketing has become the primary subject to modern marketing. Through platforms such as Instagram , Facebook and Youtube , brands identify what the recent market taste is and propose the product accordingly and thanks to these platforms the product catches eyes world wide .

Let us consider the famous brand Forever 21. By 2010 it was one of the leading brands in fashion industry, however by 2019 it was filed for bankruptcy because it failed to blend in with the digital trends of  Genz fashion and did not effectively use the ability of social media to connect with the  fashion forward youth . New competitors such as Shein and Fashion Nova started aggressively dominating the fashion industry by connecting to influencers and viral social media campaigns .

Recent  brands of celebrities such as Rhode , Rare Beauty , Kylie Cosmetics and many more solely depend upon social media for marketing . Through influencer marketing people gain trust . Many of these celebrities make a video of using the same products which they sell and post in online , people watch it and a get sense of willingness of buying the same product so that they look like how they do, and this increase their sales by millions.

In a nutshell , businesses engage into real-time conversations with the consumersworld wide which increases customer loyalty as they trust the brand to make what they need through this efficient conversations . Moreover , User generate content on social media makes the users more sure about what they need to buy . In Recent times Social Media is not a way of marketing ,- it is marketing !
