Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship Application Now Open for September 2025 Batch

The Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship application is officially underway, providing Indian students the opportunity to pursue full-time Master’s degree programs in the United Kingdom starting in September and October 2025. The Ministry of Education has announced that the online application process is now accessible via the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission’s website at cscuk.fcdo.gov.uk. Interested candidates must submit their applications by October 15, 2024.

This prestigious scholarship is designed for Indian citizens and permanent residents who hold at least an upper second-class degree, equivalent to a minimum of 60 percent marks in their undergraduate studies by September 2025. It specifically covers one-year taught Master’s programs, with the exception of MBA degrees.

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must demonstrate financial need, confirming that they cannot afford to study in the UK without this assistance. Furthermore, candidates must secure a confirmed offer of admission from a UK university listed on the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission’s website by October 31, 2024.

Nomination and Selection Process

The Ministry of Education will nominate candidates to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission based on several criteria, including:

  • The QS ranking of the university where the offer of admission has been secured.
  • The applicant’s commitment to returning to India after completion of their studies.
  • The socio-economic background of the applicant.

It’s important to note that nomination does not guarantee selection, as the final decision lies with the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.

Developmental Themes

The Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship aims to support students who are committed to contributing to India’s development upon their return. This aligns with several developmental themes outlined by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, such as:

  • Science and technology for development
  • Strengthening health systems and capacity
  • Promoting global prosperity
  • Strengthening global peace, security, and governance
  • Strengthening resilience and response to crises
  • Access, inclusion, and opportunity

Applicants are encouraged to review the detailed guidelines and application process on the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission’s website. For additional information, candidates can refer to the Ministry of Education’s official notification.

Make sure to take advantage of this opportunity to advance your education and contribute to your community upon your return to India!
