In response to party president Mallikarjun Kharge’s “Ravan” jab at him, Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed on Thursday that there is a competition among Congress leaders to slander him the most.
The Prime Minister reportedly made reference to Madhusudan Mistry’s statement when he remarked that before Kharge, another Congress leader had indicated that the party will show Modi his “aukat” (seat). At a rally on Monday evening in Ahmedabad, Kharge claimed that the prime minister always requests that voters cast their ballots “looking at his face.” He had said, “Are you 100-headed like Ravan.” On Thursday, Modi said at a campaign rally in Kalol, a town in Gujarat’s Panchmahal district, that “Congress leaders are competing to use the most derogatory words against Modi.” “Those who never accepted that Lord Ram existed have now introduced (demon king) “Ravan” from the Ramayana.

Voting is underway on Thursday for the first phase of the Gujarat Assembly elections in 89 out of the total 182 seats in the state. The remaining 93 seats, including Kalol, will go to polls in the second phase on December 5.
