Amul hikes milk prices in all states except Gujarat

The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which sells milk and milk-related products under the brand name “Amul,” raised the price of milk by 2 rupees per litre in advance of the holiday season.

Amul has increased the price of milk three times this year.

According to RS Sodhi, MD of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Limited, “Amul has increased the pricing of full cream milk and buffalo milk by Rs 2 per litre in all states except Gujarat.”

Full cream milk now costs Rs. 63 per litre as opposed to Rs. 61 per litre. Amul raised the cost of its Gold, Shakti, and Taaza milk brands by $2 per litre in August.

Other significant participants in the dairy industry have also followed suit after the market leader’s statement in August. Both Mother Dairy and Ananda have raised their milk prices. The move was seen by the companies as a fallout of high inflation and GST.
