Vi Commits to Enhancing Network Capabilities for Customers in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand

Its immediate post-FPO focus will be on improving indoor network experience and creating more capacity

After the recent success of its Follow-On Public Offering (FPO) which raised Rs 18000 crore, leading telecom operator Vi today has reaffirmed its commitment to the states of Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Uttarakhand.

Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand are among Vi’s largest priority markets. Currently, Vi holds substantial spectrum in the two states and its network covers 94 percent of UP and Uttarakhand combined. Over the last 3 years, Vi has invested over Rs 3000 crore in network improvements across the states, upgrading core networks to offer seamless service and be 5G ready, strengthen VoLTE architecture and roll out of VoWIFI for better indoor voice experience.

At a press event today, the company further shared that it will be soon adding L900 layer, which will significantly enhance indoor network experience for its customers. The deployment of L900 coverage will be beneficial in urban areas with dense building infrastructure, as well as suburban and rural areas where signal penetration is a challenge. The enhanced spectrum will not only improve voice call quality but also support better messaging and data service performance indoors.

“Our goal is to provide our customers with the best network experience, we will make investments to expand 4G coverage and provide enough capacity to boost customers’ data experiences.” said Abhijit Kishore, COO, Vodafone Idea. “Today, Vi has many unique offerings like Vi Hero Unlimited Plan which gives users unlimited calls and flexibility in data usage. We will continue to innovate and create more such offerings to meet their evolving needs” he added.

In addition to network improvements and enhancements, Vi has also expanded its retail footprint in UP with 40 Vi Stores, 199 Vi Mini Stores and 460 Vi Shops. The state also has one of Vi’s largest distribution networks with over 2000 distributors and 1.4L recharge outlets.

Vi strives to give its customers effortless service and provide outstanding value and assistance. Every Vi Store has a dedicated desk and highly trained customer service representatives for fast-tracking customer redressals.

Over the past year, Vi has been making significant strides in enhancing its customer offerings and services through initiatives like optimising Vi App for better customer connect.  Vi App is now a multi-utility platform, it offers entertainment like other OTT apps, with over 400 LIVE TV channels and Video on Demand (VoD) content, games like Free Fire and Call of Duty. It also supports utility bill payments, enabling users to pay electricity, water, LPG bills, recharge FASTAG, renew DTH or broadband subscriptions, and pay insurance premiums or loan EMIs.

Some of its most recent offers include:

  • Vi Guarantee Program where Vi users will get 130GB of guaranteed extra data over a period of one year, implying that 10GB of data will be credited to their account automatically every 28 days for 13 consecutive recharge cycles. This offer is valid only for Vi subscribers with 5G smartphones or who have recently upgraded to a new 4G smartphone.
  • Vi Movies & TV is the only single App that lets Vi users explore 13+ OTT apps, 400+ live TV channels and complimentary access to several content libraries @ just Rs 202 per month for prepaid users and Rs 199 for postpaid.
