Ola Electric has taken another bold step in the electric vehicle (EV) market with the unveiling of its much-anticipated ‘Roadster Series’ motorcycles. Introduced at the flagship annual event, Sankalp 2024, this series promises to revolutionize the Indian two-wheeler market, further accelerating the adoption of EVs across the country. The launch features multiple variants under the Roadster Series, each designed to cater to different segments of motorcycle enthusiasts.

Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder and CMD of Ola Electric, highlighted the significance of this launch by stating, “Today, two-thirds of India’s two-wheeler market consists of motorcycles, and with Ola’s entry into this segment, EV penetration is poised to further accelerate in the Indian two-wheeler segment. We have already been successful in accelerating EV adoption in the scooter segment, and with our futuristic portfolio of products, we are now focused on supercharging the EV penetration through our motorcycles.”

Introducing the Roadster Series: A Game Changer in the EV Market

The Roadster Series features three main variants: Roadster X, Roadster, and Roadster Pro. Each variant is meticulously crafted to offer an unmatched blend of performance, technology, and efficiency.

Roadster X: The Fastest Entry-Level Electric Motorcycle

The Roadster X, positioned as an entry-level electric motorcycle, is already turning heads with its impressive specifications. It is powered by a peak motor output of 11 kW, making it the fastest in its segment. The Roadster X is available in three battery variants: 2.5 kWh, 3.5 kWh, and 4.5 kWh. The top variant (4.5 kWh) boasts an acceleration from 0 to 40 kmph in just 2.8 seconds, a top speed of 124 kmph, and a range of 200 km.

In addition to its performance, the Roadster X is equipped with advanced braking technology, including a Combi Braking System (CBS) with disk brakes at the front and a brake-by-wire system. The motorcycle offers three riding modes: Sports, Normal, and Eco. The 4.3-inch LCD segment display powered by MoveOS 5 enhances the digital experience with features like Ola Maps Navigation, advanced regen, cruise control, and DIY Mode. Riders can also enjoy the convenience of Digital Key Unlock and Ola Electric App connectivity.

Roadster: The Commuter’s Speed Machine

The Roadster takes things up a notch, positioning itself as the fastest motorcycle in the commuter segment. It is powered by a 13 kW motor and is available in three battery variants: 3.5 kWh, 4.5 kWh, and 6 kWh. The top variant (6 kWh) accelerates from 0 to 40 kmph in just 2 seconds and has a top speed of 126 kmph with a range of 248 km, making it the best in its class.

The Roadster is designed with four riding modes: Hyper, Sports, Normal, and Eco. The motorcycle is powered by MoveOS 5, which introduces a segment-first 6.8-inch TFT touchscreen. The Roadster is loaded with smart features such as proximity unlock, cruise control, party mode, tamper alert, and AI-powered features like the Krutrim Assistant and smartwatch app. Safety is a priority with disc brakes at the front and rear, supported by a single-channel ABS with advanced cornering ABS and brake-by-wire technology.

Roadster Pro: Pushing Boundaries in Performance and Technology

For those seeking the ultimate in performance and technology, the Roadster Pro is the answer. This variant is equipped with a motor that delivers a peak power output of 52 kW and 105 Nm of torque. The top variant (16 kWh) accelerates from 0 to 40 kmph in a blistering 1.2 seconds, reaching 60 kmph in just 1.9 seconds. With a top speed of 194 kmph and an IDC-certified range of 579 km, the Roadster Pro is not only the fastest but also the most efficient motorcycle in its segment.

The Roadster Pro is a technological marvel, featuring a 10-inch TFT touchscreen, USD (upside down) forks, and two-channel switchable ABS with disc brakes at both the front and rear. The motorcycle offers four riding modes (Hyper, Sport, Normal, and Eco) along with two DIY modes. With the upcoming MoveOS 5 update, the Roadster Pro will introduce best-in-class digital tech features, including ADAS, three-level traction control, and advanced race-track features such as Race Mode, Anti-Wheely, and Stoppie modes.

Pricing and Delivery Timeline

Ola Electric has strategically priced the Roadster Series to cater to a wide range of consumers. Reservations for all Roadster variants began on August 15, 2024, with delivery timelines starting from Q4 FY25 for Roadster X and Roadster models, and Q4 FY26 for the Roadster Pro.
