Prime Minister Modi to Attend Amul’s Golden Jubilee Celebration

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to grace the golden jubilee celebrations of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), the proud owner of the iconic ‘Amul’ brand. The celebration will witness the inauguration of projects worth Rs 1,200 crore, including a modern cheese plant, tetra pak milk plant, chocolate plant expansion, and more.

GCMMF’s Remarkable Journey

Established in 1973 with a modest annual turnover of Rs 20 crore, GCMMF has evolved into the nation’s leading FMCG organization. Amul, the flagship brand, is on track to achieve a staggering turnover of Rs 80,000 crore, with the Amul Federation expected to reach Rs 61,000 crore this fiscal year.

Golden Jubilee Event Details

More than 1.25 lakh dairy farmers, representing around 18,600 villages in Gujarat, will be part of this grand celebration at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Notably, 40-45% of the attending dairy farmers will be women, showcasing the inclusive growth fostered by GCMMF.

Projects Inaugurated by PM Modi

During the celebration, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate five significant dairy projects, emphasizing the government’s commitment to the dairy sector. These projects include a high-tech cheese plant, a tetra pak milk plant, a chocolate plant expansion, a 50,000-litre ice cream plant, and various dairy development initiatives under government schemes.

Amul’s Vision for the Next 25 Years

The golden jubilee event is not just a celebration; it’s a platform to discuss Amul’s vision for the next 25 years. With a focus on innovation and growth, the discussions will shape the future trajectory of this dairy giant.

Massive Investments and Expansion Plans

Amul is set to invest a whopping Rs 11,500 crore in the next 2-2.5 years. This substantial investment will primarily focus on dairy processing, collection systems, and the establishment of ultra-modern processing plants. The ambitious plan aligns with the memorandums of undertaking (MoUs) signed at the World Food India event in Delhi.

A Bright Future for Amul

As each member cooperative expands its milk handling capacity, Amul plans to set up new plants not only in Gujarat but also in Varanasi, Rohtak, Ujjain, Mumbai, Goa, Pune, and Kolkata. This strategic expansion reflects Amul’s commitment to enhancing its presence across regions.
