At the 67th Filmfare Awards 2022, which were presented on Tuesday night, Ranveer Singh and Kriti Sanon were named best actor and actress. For his outstanding performance as former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev in Kabir Khan’s 83, Ranveer won the top acting prize. Kriti won for her part as a surrogate mother in the critically acclaimed movie Mimi.
Shershaah, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani, was named the best movie, while Vishnuvardhan won best director for the biographical war drama based on the life of Vikram Batra, a Kargil War martyr. Sidharth Malhotra portrays both Vikram Batra and his identical twin brother Vishal Batra in the movie Shershaah. The film also features Javed Jaaferi, Shiv Pandit among others.
For Laxman Utekar’s Mimi, Pankaj Tripathi and Sai Tamhankar were named the best actors in a supporting role (male and female) categories.
Vicky Kaushal won the best actor prize in the critics’ category for his outstanding performance in Sardar Udham, which tells the tale of revolutionary hero Udham Singh, who shot Michael O’Dwyer in London in retaliation for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Additionally, Sardar Udham won the award for best movie among critics.
In addition, Vidya Balan was named the best actress for the film Sherni, in which she portrays a no-nonsense forest officer named Vidya Vincent who leads a group of villagers and trackers in an effort to capture a tiger tigress while combating discrimination in both the workplace and the home.
The best story award went to Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, and the best screenplay honour went to Sardar Udham.
